Why don’t my Gmod downloads work in the game?

ok, so for example, i download a file that has weapon addons using firefox. after it’s done downloading, i open the file, and extract (copy and paste) it into the garry’s mod addon folder. i wait for it to finish extracting the folder into the addon folder, then i restart gmod and then play it. i go to the weapons tab, look around, and the weapons i downloaded aren’t there. this has constantly happened with certain ragdolls and props. please help.

   mods dont go into addon folders, as mods are modifications, not addons, take a look inside the flder for sub files and see if they match anything inside the game’s folders. eg textures etc
